All Bunco All the Time! Score sheets, Tally sheets, Bunko rules: Burt's Pumpkin Farm & The Cumming Country Fair and Festival all in a weekend... Oh and Zoo Atlanta too!

In the year of 1492 when Columbus sailed the ocean blue... and who knows how the rest goes? Just glad they didn't have GPS back in those days or ole Columbus wouldn't have missed his mark by two or three oceans and most of us would agree that was a good thing. Geez, he really was no where close to India. Well happy Columbus Day everyone, hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

Sorry my post is a little late, Lindsay and I like to have one out by Friday or Saturday if possible, but this weekend was a busy one for me. I actually got around to doing some of those Autumn activities I mentioned when I last blogged. You can read about those here. Anyway, I thought I'd share some of the highlights/pictures from my weekend, we hit up 2 of the 5 places I mentioned – Burt's Pumpkin Farm and the Cumming Country Fair and Festival. And we're headed to Ellijay next weekend for some apple picking so my list is close to being checked off.

Burt's Pumpkin Patch... needless to say Burt did not disappoint, we had as much fun this year as last, maybe more! It's so beautiful up that way and this patch is really one of my favorites. My daughter and I went with my mother, my sister and her two kids and we went on a Friday afternoon so it wasn't too crowded. After the kids ran through all the oversized pumpkins (this was my daughter's favorite part) we all went on a scenic, little hayride. Afterward I picked out my pumpkins along with some baked goods (apple butter and pumpkin bread to be precise!) and we were on our way. Was the perfect Fall day with family!

I got one of these skeletons last Fall when we were there,
picked up a black cat this year... they flank an oversized
pumpkin on display in my yard. I just love Halloween! :)

I believe the big pumpkin was $20, the medium was $7,
the small white was 75 cents and the small orange
was a dollar. I can't remember what the other 3 items were,
but everything was really reasonably priced.

Cumming Fair and Festival... this place has all you could ever want out of a fair. You'll find a wide variety of games rigged impossible to win with the would-be prizes (mostly oversized stuffed animals) almost taunting you as they hang overhead, the rickety rides that look too sketchy to stand underneath much less to sit on, petting zoo chalked full of goats, sheep, pigs and pretty much anything you would find living on a farm, and of course some darn good and horribly fattening food. I devoured that funnel cake I told you I was going for. After a few bites I was covered in powdered sugar, but that didn't stop me from finishing that bad boy off. I also gave into a candy apple. Blake, my husband, got a corn dog... those don't appeal to me, but he says it was one of the best he's had in a long time. And our little girl munched on some popcorn. Basically our day consisted of walking around, taking in all the sights and pigging out. We had a great time and I recommend the Cumming Fair and Festival if you're looking for some family fun!

I even managed to visit Zoo Atlanta today with some of my neighbors and their children. I haven't been there in over 10 years so it was fun going back and seeing all the changes they've made. The zoo was actually on my list of things to do for some Summer fun... see that post here. Needless to say a great time was had by all... especially by our little monkeys who probably had the most fun on the zoo's playground! I didn't get many, but you can see some of my pics from this trip below. And I must say going this time of year as opposed to Summer proved to be wise, it wasn't as smelly as I last remembered. I think the heat stirs up the stink and the weather in Atlanta today was rather brisk. Ahh, love this time of year!
