My Checklist for Summer

In this post I list 10 things that I'd like to do this summer! We are taking a little vacation late August, but my list below are some activities I'd like to do locally. Some are cheap or even free, others I will have to save up for, but all of it sounds F-U-N! If you live in Atlanta, then maybe some of these ideas will appeal to you too!

Oh and it goes without saying that Tanglewood Farm would be at the top of this list, but as Lindsay shared with you last week we've managed to make that trip. That said, I am definitely going back next summer!

Neighborhood Block Party

Every summer my neighbors and I say we're gonna organize one and this summer we finally got around to actually doing it. So far at least 45 of us can attend which makes for a good crowd. One neighbor is even buying a keg for the adults... and a few of us with kids are splitting the cost of a bounce house. We may bust out a slip-n-slide too. Fun times ahead in my neck of the woods!

Haven't been here in years and I think our little girl is getting to the age where she might enjoy the zoo. She is definitely an animal lover like her mama so my guess is that this will be fun for us both!

Tubing in Helen

I don't think I can get my husband to do this with me, but I'll just get a group of girlfriends together and go. Maybe we can do lunch in the quaint town of Helen afterward.

This is a must for all those living in Georgia. I have fond memories as a kid watching Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. 'Stonewall' Jackson come to life on that granite mountainside.

Hot Air Balloon Ride

A few years ago I surprised my husband with a biplane ride over Atlanta for his birthday. He doesn't exactly love heights, but to his amazement he loved the experience. That said, I think I can talk him into doing a balloon ride. This would be the perfect way to catch a summer sunset.

This would make the perfect field trip for my daughter.

Ashford Park Movie Night

This is my neighborhood's version of 'screen on the green' or an outdoor movie. Watching a free movie under the stars with your neighbors, who wouldn't wanna do that?

My sister and her kids attended a birthday party here last month and she said they had a blast ziplining through the treetops! The picture is of my nephew soaring through the sky! Adorable!

So I saw this in Target's catalog and thought it looked fun. It's pricey, but I am dying to have it. We don't have a pool so maybe that's how I'd justify the cost. ;)

A few years back I swam with the whale sharks (and a few HUGE hammerheads too) at the Georgia Aquarium and let me tell you it was incredible. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone who can swim. Absolutely amazing! Now the aquarium offers a Beluga Whale excursion that I'm dying to try. You get to suit up and wade out about waste deep with these awesome creatures. Out of everything on this list, I hope to do this the most!

Don't ya just love summer?! :)
