A stove-top cover? What a fabulous idea! Plus a white wine spritzer that will knock your socks off!

Several days ago my sister had her first wedding shower which was given by some of my parents' very dear friends who went above and beyond to make her day a very special one! From the adorable bride and groom center piece to the delicious food, these women thoroughly outdid themselves and it was so appreciated. This same group of ladies even threw a shower for me when I was a bride-to-be. What can I say, we love these families and we're so grateful for all they've done for us over the years!

There were a couple things from the shower I thought I'd share... like the stove-top cover (for a lack of a better description) providing the host with some extra counter space which she used to set up a beverage center. I've never seen this done before and I must say it's brilliant idea! I also want to share the recipe for the white wine spritzer they were serving that afternoon, it was simple yet oh so refreshing. I'm definitely mixing this up the next time I entertain!

So the story behind the stove-top cover is that one of the hosts saw this clever concept at a party and had a friend's husband measure her stove top and custom make one to fit her space. If you know someone who is handy, then I'm sure they could recreate it. All you need is some plywood, trim and a little paint. You could even decorate the top of yours with tile to match your kitchen's back-splash although that will make your cover a little heavier. The pictures below will give you a better sense of what I'm talking about. :)

This kitchen was so beautiful, you're looking at the stove-top space with a decorative wooden over-mantle. Just lovely!

Here is a close up of the stove-top cover. She painted hers black and placed dainty doilies on top before setting up the beverage station. The drink you see is the white wine spritzer. Delicious!

And below is how to make the white wine spritzer which is what you see in the pictures above. This was so good!

• 1 large bottle of pinot grigio
• 2 litter bottle of ginger ale
• 1 cup of peach schnapps

Mix all 3 ingredients and garnish each glass with an orange slice. Delicious!
