Know your colors, ladies....

Bear with me readers.... today I want to get a little artsy-fartsy on you.  I want to talk about colors.  No, I don't mean your own individual colors that we girls used to be taught about, i.e., whether you are a cool person or a warm person or a neutral person.  Doesn't it seem no one really talks about those things anymore, at least not as much as they used to?  (Somewhere, Mary Kay Ash just sat up from the grave and wants to slap me silly. But really, I'm just not sure those rules are as important as they once were.  I'll bet you a pink Cadillac not as much as they did 50 years ago.  But I digress).

Anyway, I'll get to the point.... have y'all seen the Pantone Spring Colors for 2013??  I am obsessed.  Each one is just such a gorgeous shade.  They are so bright and vibrant.... I guess I am just ready for the new season!  (A bit early, I know).  However, just seeing these colors makes me smile and start thinking about summer outfits, pretty flower arrangements, and perhaps even a few new home decor items.  (Kidding, hubby, kidding!  I still like to pretend he reads this blog, haha).  Without further adieu, here they are:

 

The more I looked at the above color chart, the more I started to laugh at myself.... it's no wonder that these colors speak to me so much... these are already colors that I have used throughout my home.  Let's take a little look, shall we?  :o)

In my dining room, I have a vase with faux figs sitting on a dark wood buffet.  The vase has a trellis pattern close to the Tender Shoots color.  The figs are Nectarine with Linen spots.  And my drapes and roman shade in this room have Nectarine, Lemon Zest, Poppy Red, and Dusk Blue.

 

  

Moving on to our bedroom, I have a giant bolster pillow atop our duvet color alongside some ikat pillows.  An even dustier version of Dusty Red and Tender Shoots, along with some Linen, graces its fabric and trim.

 

We have a set of 4 flower prints framed that have Poppy Red, Lemon Zest, Nectarine, and Tender Shoots in them, and our bedskirt has pale versions of all of those as well.

 

 

  

Our stairs have a runner that is a darker version of Grayed Jade.

  

In our dining room, I found just about every color....

From our chair backs (which I am proud to say that I designed) with almost every single color from the chart ... 

To some Lemon Zest urns and a pinky-Linen bench by the fireplace.... 

  

To some framed prints above the fireplace (with almost every color in the print itself and with a pale version of Monaco Blue mat) .... 

To another bolster sitting in our antique French settee (Poppy Red and Dusk Blue)... 

 

  

To some fun decorative orbs in a variety of textures sitting in an old copper bowl (lots of Tender Shoots, Dusty Blue, Grayed Jade, Lemon Zest, and Nectarine-Poppy Red hybrid here) ... 

 

 

To some Grayed Jade pillows in some antique French chairs... 

 

To the small bolsters adorning our French loveseat under the window (lots of all colors, with Linen predominant) ... 

 

To a tassel hanging from my crystal cabinet.  (Nectarine, Lemon Zest and a bluish-Emerald).

  

In a sitting area off our dining room which I recently rearranged, there is lots more Nectarine, Dusty Blue, Monaco Blue, and Lemon Zest to be found... 

 

 

  

Moving to the kitchen, one of my favorite Le Creuset pots is Monaco Blue, and a little rug by our French doors to our backyard has lots of that blue, plus Poppy Red and Nectarine, as well.

 

  

A set of highback wingchairs lives in the little sitting room off our dining room as well, and a silk pillow in Nectarine currently calls one of those chairs home.

 

  

In our guest bedroom, I found Dusty Blue, Monaco Blue, Poppy Red, Linen, Nectarine, Tender Shoots, and Lemon Zest.  And I am sure I missed some.

 

 

Our kitchen's French doors have roman shades that have Nectarine, Poppy Red, and a bluish-Emerald in the fabric's design.

My china (which I inherited from my mom) is Wedgewood's Runnymede.  It's discontinued, but thankfully I can find it at auctions and online sites.  I just love it.  It has Grayed Jade, Lemon Zest, and Nectarine in the pattern.  That little Foo Dog is appropriately in the Grayed Jade color.  :o)

 

A set of club chairs on our upstairs landing have a lot of Nectarine and Lemon Zest in their fabric, as does a pillow sitting atop one.

Last but not least, my favorite place mats have a dark version of the almost-peachy Linen in them, along with Tender Shoots and Nectarine.
